This week’s (antro)pología sees our guest Wasabi traverse the colourful, romantic and tragic history of Corridos, a genre right at the heart of the Mexican people. Protest music, music for the campesinos, music for the cartel, music for todos. Isaac will take you on a Corrido journey right from around its inception circa The Mexican Revolution back in 1910 all the way to the current hype of ‘Corridos Tumbados,’ in 2023. Sit back and be Anthropologised through Wasabi’s thoroughly investigated and researched Corridos selections spanning its decorated history, from the romantic Pedro Infante, through the King of Narco Corridos, to the brilliant women of Corridos to the current world beater by Corridos, legend, Peso Pluma.
‘EL Corrido’ is a Mexican musical style. It is a popular narrative conceived to be sung, recited or danced. Corridos are also known as tragedies, mañanitas, ejemplos, versos, relaciones or coplas.
